Arranging Research Visits to the Paumgarten Building

Adding the Paumgarten Family Archival Center to the New England Ski Museum’s physical plant at Cannon Mountain was a major effort for the small organization. However, fundraising could not cover the cost of a full-time attendant. At the present time, the Paumgarten Building is not staffed on a day-to-day basis. Those who wish to see the collections or conduct research are asked to make arrangements in advance so the schedules of our staff can be ordered to accommodate the research visit.

Advance contact is also useful to the researcher so that staff can assemble material prior to the visit pertaining to the researcher’s area of interest. Because not all material received in the early years of the Museum is digitally cataloged, there is often much material that the staff can locate that would elude an electronic search.

The Paumgarten Building is physically separated from the Museum by a distance of about a mile (less in summer when a service road is driveable). Interior temperature is kept cool, so warm clothing is recommended.

Please contact jeff@skimuseum.org to arrange a research visit or ask about collections.
